Talk to your doctor
Talk to your doctor before you start any regular exercise program.
Your doctor may have special instruction or recommendation for you.
Stretch
Warming up and stretching before beginning any exercise is important
to avoid
injury and prepare your body for exercise. Stretch with slow
movements and regular breaths. Do not bounce. Hold each stretch for
at least 10 seconds. Stretching should feel good, never painful. If you
notice pain, stop.
Cool-down
Cooling down after physical activity is also very important to avoid injuries
and sore muscles. To cool down, walk slowly for 5 to 10 minutes.
Drink plenty of water
It is important to stay well hydrated. The muscles that drive your body are
three-quarters water. Losing too much water through exercise and sweating
can lead to serious health problems. To avoid complications, drink water before,
during and after exercise. The most important nutrient in your body is plain water.
